Default Question for Everyone with Carbon Fiber Hoods/Trunks

So I am thinking about ordering the Carbon Fiber Hood and Trunk from Seibon for my IS.... but I was told that I should be careful with carbon fiber as the resin will yellow over time. Now I wash my car myself every week and wax every few weeks (probably more than I should )... the car is garaged in the summer months but will be outside in the fall and spring months... Do any of you have experience with this? Is it a problem that I should be concerned about? I am very meticulous and the yellowing would probably drive me insane. just sayin....

Keep it waxed with some good Meguairs wax is what most of my friends with CF parts too and they all seem to be holding up pretty well. They wax the CF parts once a week lol most of the damage comes from UV Rays, so a good wax or sealant that helps block out the UV Rays will go a long way.

I had the same carbon fiber hood and hatch on my SVT focus for 3 years my garage was turned into a storage room so it stayed outside in Texas summers but like you I washed and waxed regularly and never had an issue I have seen people with yellow carbonfiber hoods and I guess it is just lack of maintenance

i had my hood and trunk re-cleared before installing it, the thin clear coat they bring will turn yellow asap in the florida sun. so before you install it take the parts to a body shop and have them re-clear it with a thick layer, that will give it better protection and will look good for a very long time. i had my car out in the sun all year for 3yrs and it never turn yellow.

Seibon guarantees their products from yellowing for 6 months. That will give you an idea what kind of time frame you have before the discoloration starts to occur. Badx33 gave some very good advice. The alternative is to do what I do - garage keep your car, wax it often, and put it under a car cover when it's necessary to park outside.

I've have the complete Seibon kit for years and no yellowing yet.
