yeah thats just how it works. in the manual it shows the the radius around each lock where the FOB has to be in, in order for it to work, so even if the car is unlocked you still need the fob near the trunk to open it.to answer ur question im not sure if the dealer can change it or not. there is a list of things they can change for u if you bought the car brand new but i dont know if that was one of the options.

the button in the glove is just the valet switch. it locks the trunk so it can only be opened manually with the key.so valet ppol cant look through ur stuff. trust me THEY DO THAT!!! lock the glove and take the lil key out the fob if u valet wit important stuff in ur trunk.anyways wit that off you STILL need the fob to unlock the trunk wit the button on the right.

i still havent figured out the locks yet.
i lock the car with the fob every time...yet, when i return to the car, i cant always open the doors or trunk without clicking the fob. strange.

Going by memory, I didn't recall seeing the option to change this on the "option" sheet the dealer gives you the first time to customize your setting. You need to have your fob with you to open it. Hate it when my wife grabs my keys to open the house door and I need to get something from the truck...

You must have the key with you to open the trunk. Unless you press the button under the steering wheel... Theres no way to change that right now... I think it's a security feature more than anything....
