Engine Cover Clips
So, I was looking under the hood today and noticed that a couple of my engine cover clips weren't really latched down. They are basically just sitting in place. I took them off because they aren't really locked in place any way. How do you unlatch them? I can't seem to "reset" them in order to put them back in correctly. Anyone know how to do this? Seems easy enough but I'm stuck on figuring this out. lol. Afraid I'll break the clip.

You can spread the legs apart to let the main plug back up or you can do what I do. Just place the pointed part onto a hard surface like a table and push down on the outer ring. It will click the main plug back up.
Oh and don't loose them suckers. They aint cheap.

I got them to "reset" cool. But now when I place them
Back into the holes they click shut but don't actually hold the cover together. Weird. I'm going to have the dealer replace them since they last serviced my car and apparently they didn't clip them back in right.
Thanks for the help!

I noticed the same problem with several after I had my valve spring recall done but didn't take it back to the dealer. They seem like they don't last too long anyway and I'll just pick up a pack of new ones.

After breaking a few while removing the shroud and side cover to install a modded stock airbox and a joe-z pipe i went to Lowe's and picked up a bunch of replacements for cheap. Nylon pushpins is what they're called there...Lowe's actually has a very decent selection of automotive fasteners and retainers, worth checking it out (~1 dollar for a bag of two push pins). The dealer wanted 2.15 each...EACH!

Thanks but, wow, i think i got beat by ebay hahah, thanks for the tip Lexitegra. That being said if you need em right now, Lowe's is the second best option. I think I should buy a bag of 25 on ebay and stash it in my toolbox for the future.
At Lowe's i bought the screw in style, 1/4" i believe. Bring one of your car's with you to compare just in case.

ISF engine bay cover clips
I bought the "push in clips" for my 2010 ISF on eBay. It seems like I lose or break a couple every time I'm working in the engine bay and have to remove a black plastic cover (eg: changing a headlight bulb). They're exactly like the OEM product but at $0.90ea instead of $1.90ea the middle man won't have to run to the bank to make his regular deposit
