IS 350 noise in dash
Greetings!
I'm new to this forum as a friend just told me about. Great information to be had here!
I'm hoping someone might be able to help with a small annoying noise I've had since my car was new. I have 2006 IS350 (which I otherwise love). Since almost the beginning there is a small noise in the dash that sounds like something slidding back and forth in an air vent or other area. It's best described as a light "clunk". Of course the dealership has never been able to duplicate the problem. The very first time I took it in the mechanic rode with me and actually heard it. He told me it was fan that came loose. It was temporiarly cleared up but he failed to document what he did so subsequent visits to the dealership are fruitless. Not only do they not hear it but they don't have any previous repair record to go from. The first guy said he went in through the glove box area to get to it. I just can't seem to get this little irritation taken care of. Of course now I'm out of warranty and they want to charge me $900 to drop the dash to locate the problem! Not an option.
Has anyone else had this issue or have a clue what it might really be? Is there an exploded view of the dash that might shed some light on what part may be loose inside?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
