what are you guys using to lift your ride?

OK, for oil changes why jack up the car, just get a set of ramps it's so much easier. Also, since my car is lowered, I made my own ramps. Go to home depot and grab a 2x12. Have them cut it up and make a set of staggered ramps... did my set for less than $30 and it works fantastic. don't waste $100+ on a set of low profile ramps...wooden ramps are sturdier and much cheaper.

Didn't want to start a new thread with this question, and this seemed to be the most pertinent existing thread.
This weekend I'm planning to paint my brake calipers. My plan is to place the car on jack stands so I can do all 4 calipers at the same time.
I'm using a friend's garage, floor jack and jack stands, none of which I've used before. Can someone tell me the safest process for actually getting the car up onto all 4 jack stands at once? Do I use the floor jack to jack up the rear of the car, put the jack stands under the rear two sides, then repeat for the front? Do I do the front or rear first? Is it safe to have the two front or two rear wheels on jack stands while you jack up the other end of the car?
I assume that in the diagram up in post 15, I will be placing the floor jack at the two gray circle points marked "Jack Position", and the jack stands will go at the white rectangle "Support Position: Pantograph Jack Positions". Is this correct? I've read on CL about these latter 4 points being susceptible to denting/folding when using Y-shaped jack stands. Is there any way around this while remaining safe? Or can I avoid it just by being careful?
Thanks for your help.
