thanks for all advises folks, i am looking to pay it off all cash, no loan or finance, so dont have much $$ to get a clean title one. this one got hit on driver side front but professionally fixed and all airbags are still intacted, very low mileage and come with Nav too. just talked to owner and he willing to lower to 14K

There are a lot of mechanical parts in the driver side front, and while a professional certainly could fix it very well, it is a risk. For $14k now, you may be in a $5k headache in a years time than you would have been just better off buying a used with high milage.
That being said, I'd still skip the salvage and get a high milage used. Yeah, high milage isn't the greatest, but these cars are built to last into the 100k+ miles so brand reliability is quite key here which thankfully, Lexus has.

My biggest fear would be flood damage. No matter the price... you loose.... (and flood damage cleans up nicely to the naked eye)
A seller can tell you whatever you want to hear to close the deal. As long as his lie lines up enough to convince you its the truth.
"Got hit?" Ask for pictures. Since the invention of the digital camera (and before) Ive got shots of every major damage Ive done to my cars...
No proof? Then walk away from it.
my 2 cents

When people ask you how much you got this car for, and you say 14K and salvage title, they'll be like WTF. Apparently, telling people you have a salvage car is worst than having a used car.

this price is too much.
1) Look on COPART if you want to buy salvage. Go see the car if your planning on buying
2) Theres nothing wrong with salvagee just dont over pay( this car salvage shouldnt even cost more than 12K.
3) Extensive time and much research must be taken first.(price of parts, etc..)
4) Know where the car was hit or what caused the damage.
5) Keep in mind that you always need to fix a salvage car unless you fix everything correct.
6) Many times insurance will buy a salvage car and cosmetically fix the car so it looks good to then put it back into the auction to sell it at a higher price.
7) Oh yea if you do plan on buying just know that no one will want to place close to the book value of the car because its salvaged. This will be a car to keep for the long haul.
Let me know what your buying and how it was hit.

A friend of mine bought a car for $15,000 + $4,000 to fix it (fixed it himself) with 15k miles = 09 IS350 with navigation and everything. You're getting ripped off, its not worth it.
