Default Good news for this problem (Chevron/Techron)

As far as I can tell the rough idle/rpm problem is not coming back--yeah!!!

Lexus has done 3 top end cleanings for this problem. I have 145,000 miles on my 2007. After the last one, i decided to use only CHEVRON 91 OCTANE gas with TECHRON. Before that I had been using mostly Shell gas.

Knock on wood, since i have been using Chevron/Techron, i have had no hint of problem.

I too have been using chevron with techron since my cleaning at 35k and at 61k now it hasn't done it again although it still idles rougher than it use to. I feel vibration at stops. Whenever I get a new loaner I always notice it more then...no vibration in the steering wheel or on the door. Oh well other than that a solid ride!

I did a seafoam treatment last week @62k. I saw a faint of white smoke from the exhaust. I was very disappointed. $10 for insignificant amount of carbon build up. I can't tell the difference before and after treatment. Yes, I did it because I read so much carbon build-up issues on IS250s . I don't have rough idle issue to begin with to be honest. And yes, I've done seafoam treatments before to my previous cars. I saw much worse smoke on my miata.

I guess there is a little bit difference between AT and MT cars. It seems that most carbon issues are affecting IS250 cars with AT. But I could be wrong.

I read this a couple of times and still don't quite understand. Nothing was wrong originally, but you spent $10 to fix it and was disappointed when the fix did not expose a more expensive problem? Truly not trying to be a ****, just hoping to understand what you mean. I've got a 2010 250AT which "supposedly" is immune to the problem, but I'm not sure to what extent so I'm keeping a close eye on it. Appreciate any comments.

Slight UPDATE >.<

I want to chime in a little bit of inside knowledge that I've been inquiring for some time now. After feeling like I've been on the queue for what seemed like eternity there's now a chance of an answer.

According to some inside sources which I cannot confirm or deny what I've been told, Lexus is well aware of this issue past the TSIB fix for it. Apparently there's talks of having a short block rebuild with certain components changed, anywhere from pistons to valves. I'm not in 100% certainty of what is exactly being looked at but there is talk that this will become another recall to adress this issue permanently.

If I come across more of this intel I will update this thread.

It's a problem, no doubt about it. Here's my crappy photos from when I did the T.E.C.

http://s432.photobucket.com/albums/q...ion%204GR-FSE/

I don't have a Chevron in my area but add a Techron additive every 1500 miles or so. I can see lots of black carbon on hard accel but its hard to know if its the additive removing carbon from the engine OR normal carbon build up that settled within the exhaust pipes.

My cars fast so I gots to be doing something right.

It appears that some members are already having this new unamed service bulletin performed on their car. One whitch involves replacing pistons and I believe valves as well... This just got a whole lot more interesting.

Mine shakes like an earthquake for 2 seconds then goes away whenever I idle at a light.
It occurs very very randomly.

Here's the official news some of us have been waiting for, finally a solution to our little Carbon issue. I've confirmed with a Master Tech friend of mine and what is being replaced according to Lexus's service bulletin is pistons and piston rings.

More info when I come accross some.

Looks to me like I'm getting an engine overhaul

don't know how that would be fair as it's a design flaw and their fault
