Default Smart card Key. Help!

Does anyone have the Smart card key for their car? 2007 IS350. I was going to buy one today, but the dealer said it wasn't compatible with my car. They attempted to program the key, but could not do it. Is there a special way they need to program the key? Has anyone has this problem? THANKS!

Your smart card key.... you mean the $250+ "credit-card-like" key made by Denzo?? (there is a logo at back side lower corner).

It should work as far as I know. I had my programmed for another vehilce a week ago, and the tech at dealership (Steven's Creek, NorCal) told me it works with any Lex vehicle as long as it is using the current "fob" style key model.

FYI

I was going to buy it, but they were unable to program it to my car... no clue why. but I've seen other posts of people that have successfully programed it to their car. can anyone help please? any idea why it is not working? or is it a particular smart card key that i need to get?

There's a thread by carchitect on how to program it. If the key was already programmed to another car, you may/may not have to do a full reset.

Link to instructions.

is your car used when you bought it? i live in hawaii, we can't program the card key that is bought from there. if by any chance that your car is from hawaii then you have to buy the card key from japan or hawaii. its something to do with the radio frequency. mainland cars have different frequency from japan and hawaii cars.
