Hello All from a new member!
Good evening,
My name is servant jo. I live in the IE, Southern California with my wife and 4 terrific kids. Last Sept. I went to a local dealer and bought an 2006 IS 250 which had about 4000 miles on it. I got a really good deal from them because an elderly lady wanted to trade her in for a 2009 Red IS 250. This car is fully loaded. It was a terrific choice that my wife and I have made. I enjoy riding it every where.
Here is a couple questions that I would like to ask you PROS: Where is the great place (LEXUS dealer) for me to take my car for a service? How can I tell if the place is a good one?
I am pretty much new to this car business. I had been driving camry, accord, and civic for a long time. Now come to this, I definitely have no clues.
Thanks guys,
servant jo

Here's the big thing to be aware of if you plan to use the dealer for service- Make sure you request JUST an oil change, not the "X mile service"
Because otherwise they'll charge 3-4 times as much, for the same damn thing.
Apart from 5k oil changes the only things you actually need to do are as follows:
Every 15k- Change air and cabin filters- You can do this yourself, maybe 5 minutes each, for massively less cost than the dealer.
Every 30k- Change brake fluid- probably should just let the dealer handle that one if you're not familiar with it
Every 60k- Change spark plugs- ditto as the fluid
Every 100k- Change coolant- as the plugs/brake fluid, let the dealer do it if it's not something you're comfortable doing
Now you can get a normal $50 oilchange instead of, say, the $180 "10k service" that's just an oil change anyway.
