Purchase IS250 from private party...warranty fully transferable ?
As the title says, I am looking at purchasing a 2008 IS250 from a private party here in FL. Just want to confirm that the warranty is fully transferable. Seller states that the warranty is good until 12/18/11 and powertrain until 12/18/13.
Also, anything else I should be aware of when going private party? I'll be pulling a carfax today. Any other advise.
Thanks

I've always sold my cars outright but this would be the first private party purchase. Trying to do as much homework as possible

I recently purchased a used '07 IS250 and had the same questions. Is there anything that the new owner needs to do to switch it over, or does it automatically transfer with the title and registration change? May be this is a dumb question, but how does Lexus find out the car changed owners and now any sort of recall or warranty/service notices should be going to a different owner?

No action necessary except possibly contact a dealer w/ the vin and make sure the warranty was not voided at some point for some reason.
You can also go to www.lexus.com and go to the owners section. Enter your vin number to register and you can view the Lexus service history.

Just a note (although it doesn't appear to apply to you). New car warranty transfers to you. But, a Certified Pre-owned Warranty (CPO) is not transferable. At least, you couldn't as of the last time I checked . . .

FWIW...
I think for regular warranty it automatically transfers over, not sure.
For EXTENDED warranty transfers, you need to send a letter somewhere to Lexus in North Carolina. Call Lexus for the address. Along with a $50 check. After week or so, they'll cash it and you'll get a booklet and card of your warranty info and when expires, etc.
You can use this for the statement...
To Whom May It Concern,
I, Preivous Owner, will be transferring the 200X Lexus ISX50 extended warranty to the new owner, Your Name. Your Name has purchased the vehicle on Date with xx,xxx miles.
