Default Todays Experience At The Dealership

I went into the dealership today to have my 20k mile service done on my 2006 250 MT. When i made the appointment, i requested that they change my transmission oil since i mainly do city driving (its usually done for the 30k mile service). They said over the phone that it wouldnt be a problem. Fast forward to today and im talking to my service consultant and the actual technician who ok'd the procedure. I curiously asked both of them, together, how many manual transmissions they've seen in the Houston area. The technician (who is very texan) said, "ive only driven one that i can remember, in fact i think it was yours, you have the black 250 with the audio system in the back?" Im thinking to myself, "yep thats me, i pray you know what youre doing, you just called my subwoofers an audio system." He then proceeds to tell me that the dealership cant even order 2009 MT's because they will not ship them to Houston because of a lack of demand. Anyway, 5 minutes later i see what looks to be the head manager talking to both of them, the service consultant (the person who oversees the services and makes sure your satisfied) and the technician. My consultant comes to get me in the lobby and says they have to charge me to change the tranny oil. $140 just because it is normally done on the 30k mile service, the first service that isnt covered by the 2yr/25K service warranty. My response was, "You've told me countless times that there are very few manual transmission IS250's in the area, not to mention you guys will not be receiving 2009 250 manuals. So what i can deduce from this is situation is that you're trying to get me to drop $140 on something that will otherwise sit on the shelf in the service garage. I knew i should have gone with the 328." The look on her face was priceless, and i knew it wasnt her call because she would have okay'd it within seconds, shes helped me out countless other times. I guess Lexus is struggling, i knew sales were down 30%, but this is desperate. In the end, they still refused to change it. It may not seem like a big deal to some, but in my case it is just the icing to the cake. Its not what i expected from lexus.

Yeah, the service we get is just dismal. I always thought that Lexus prided itself on service and quality, but I guess that only applies if you're part of the majority. Soon, they're probably only service their hybrid models.

It's sad to be less than 1% of the Lexus population. Seriously, can't they own up that they created a sub-par product and do something about it?

MTF is super easy to change - drain and fill.

DIY or have a reliable mechanic to do it for you.......

I understand they need to make a living but $140 to replace the MTF is simply ridiculous
