Thinking of painting Brake Calipers on IS250 Need help.
So ive been looking through the forum and I saw couple threads about painting brake calipers, but it was mostly all for the is350. Is350 has a bigger and a flatter caliper so it seems like it is easier to paint. I am going to spray paint it, not brush. People say brush seems better but im just gona go with spray. However i have a question about the IS250 brake caliper and where i can paint. This picture shows a brake caliper for the is250 and he painted only certain parts of it. i was wondering if i can paint the whole thing with the spray can.
THIS IS NOT MY CAR! =D It is a picture I found. Mine is not painted black.
anyone with the is250 painting caliper experience tell me? thx
also im sorry for using this picture if this person is a member of clublexus :/

spray should be smoother than brush, i wasnt too happy with how mine turned out.
The part in the middle is the brake pad, i got the same prob with my rears. so it would make the brakes look even smaller. I think u can get red brake pads, from redstuff (?) or some other similar company

So I shouldnt spray over the brake pads? does it damage a lot? even though it is the outer part of the brake.

hey thats my car!!!
anyways........ I decided not to paint the middle and those clips, because thats part of the brake pads, not the caliper. You can paint them if you want, but remember that when you change brake pads you will need to paint again! Also I thought that if a painted them it would be harder to remove the pad maybe just my thought

I used duplicolor paint on is the best for longevity. Sprays do not last long and often collect brake dust and need too much maintenance as I learned in the past. It is safe to paint everything like the pad guide clips etc. Below is my 250 caliper.

There are extensive discussions about this in the GS forum (2nd gen). I would not recommend spraying until you read thru some of the discussions/tips provided there. I also would not use a paint that isn't rated for high heat applications.
That being said - I used the G2 Caliper paint system for my GS and even though it was brush on it worked just fine...you don't see any brush lines and if anyone does - they're too damn close to my car anyway.

I have great luck with the Dupli-color brush on kits. They are about $20 and worth every penny. They hold up nice in the winter with all the salts on the road in the Chicagoland area.
