Default Sold my 2nd Gen IS to CarMax

Well its been great here. I want to thank everybody here at clublexus for their kindness and helpful suggestions, in purchasing my car, upgrading, and finally selling my car!

The Lexus IS250 was probably one of the best (or the best) vehicle I ever owned. I only lost $3,000 in depreciation after 1 year 1 month of owning it! Which is unheard of, I believe.

The Longo Lexus dealership was outstanding , and so were the other Lexus dealerships. I really liked my Lexus, and if economic conditions get better, Ill definitely buy another one!

Ill be snooping around there here and there, to see what you guys are doing and modding on your cars!

Thanks!

Thanks for your concern. It was 50% economic reasons, and 50% other reasons. I have had new cars every other years, the last 20 years (im older now!).

What I did was try to jump ship before it depreciates again (im guessing 1, 2 or 3 months tops before another depreciating hit).

I lost $3,000.00 on the deal. I enjoyed it very much for 13 months.

But your right about the economy. I think im a little wiser now, and to keep paying and owing on something thats depreciating (even slowly) all the time wasnt worth it to me anymore. I am actually very very happy now!

I actually dont think I will be buying a new car anytime soon!

Cars are never a wise investment, unless you get a collectible car. Depreciation is just part of the game. I still love getting a new car, and can't imagine changing that anytime soon.

yeah it's true buying cars is a bad investment unless it becomes a collectible or classic as said. i dont know about you guys but i love cars and even if its a bad investment, as long as i can afford it, i'll do it cuz cars make me happy

Good for you for making a financially sound decision!

I wish I could trade in my car for a much cheaper functional one and use the extra money for things that could make more money, but I just can't imagine doing that yet haha

Im driving a 1989 acura integra 5 speed (really well maintaineed) for now. It gives me 38 mpg highway.

I was actually thinking of getting a used vehicle this time around. Maybe for like $6000.00, I really like my old E36's, so maybe Ill get one, im just worried about maintenance on them, so ill keep my 89 integra as backup.

But I feel so free, because selling my Lexus, gave me the freedom to:

1. Buy any new car now (if im willing to do that again), but knowing I could (not being stuck on the Lexus Loan).

2. Buy a CPO used car (with most depreciating already out).

3. Save some money, invest it somewhere else (like Real Estate, prices in California have fallen dramatically like 60%).

Just my thoughts!

I totally understand where your coming from, i have had mine for almost 2 years now, and i would rather use that high payment for other things like paying off credit debt. cant say a house because l already have that...to me its just having that money in my pocket again...it was nice to have it but im not a diehard car guy that dumps all his money into his ride,,thats not a great way to invest money, every car is a loss no matter what...people have to understand that concept when they purchase cars, you dont buy it for the value, you buy for the look of the car that fits your personal style and taste...anyways good luck to you and i hope i finally get to selling mine as well and be "FREE" like you...

Thanks Axis! and everyone here, we know how it is, we say to ourselves, we will keep this car forever! till 100,000 miles, or when it dies! but then you see the "new" one, and DAM, we go traded in, and then the insanity again! crazy!
