Question Rear-view mirror rattle..yes.."rattle"

I heard some rattling inside the cabin, I dunno where it is exactly, it seems in the lower passenger side windshield or passenger door. But after 1 week of haunting where that sound is from, I finally found it. (i have done the dash rattle fyi)

This afternoon when the sun was blinding me, I put the visor down. then when I was putting the visor up to its rest position, it hits the roof too hard and I heard the same rattling sound.. so I searched around for the noise in the upper part of the windshield and finally rear view mirror. I shaked the mirror, knock it with my fingers, and it rattles!! the same rattles I heard before.

I know there is a TSIB regarding rear view mirror vibration, which is caused by thumping bass from music or uneven roads. But that's just vibration, no rattling or ticking sound is produced. But this rattle of mine is producing sound!! It really annoys me when I heard it.

I can duplicate this sound anytime so duplicating the sound when a technician at the dealer checking it out is not a problem. So, when I bring this issue to a dealer, will they replace it under warranty? as if the mirror vibration TSIB is performed?

And have any of you guys experienced the same thing before?

Have you tried to tighten the rear view mirror? Our rear view mirror is removable. Maybe it just needs tightening since you said it shook.

I heard rattling noise from my IS350 as well so I brought my car into the dealer. They test drove it with me and they confirmed the noise and they agreed to diagnose where the sound is coming from and do whatever to repair it for free (under warranty). It's been in the shop for 5 days now and they still don't know where the noise is coming from. This is pissing me off. Meanwhile they gave me a ****ty ES350 to drive.

Had that on my car, it was the plastic part that covered the cables for the rearview mirror, replaced it at the dealership and the rattle went away.

Hope you understand which part I mean I can not take any picture since I sold the car..

There is a TSIB for the mirror which in most cases requires complete replacement.

Default Rear View Mirror Rattle

I too had a rattle in my rear view mirror. The Dealer confirmed the issue and replaced the mirror under warranty.

I have a sound system in my IS. The little black cover that is on the windshield where the rear view mirror is is very loose. I can hear it rattle. Check to see if its coming from there. I placed some felt tape on there and now it is gone.

I think I know which part you are talking about..it should be the back part of the mirror, the black cover that covers the cables. the same as me here..that part is the one causing the rattle

which year is your IS? I once called a dealer regarding mirror TSIB and they said my VIN# is not qualified blah blah blah. I always get pissed when the dealer said that
