Get another IS 350 or an Audi A5?
So...turns out I want to make the move back to a car
Reference Post: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=311213
I am once again considering the IS 350 as I really loved this car, but I'm also thinking about taking a step up and maybe getting into the new Audi A5. What do you guys this about this car and advantages / disadvantages between the two (aside from price, obviously).
My Lexus dealer is offering me a great deal if I decide to buy another Lexus and I happen to know the dealer owner for the local Audi dealer (so no inflated markup on the HOT A5/S5 and as short of a wait as possible).
Darn decisions...this is the part I hate

my lexus dealership had an audi right next to it i was too considering the A5, but they said that audi has been having some major electrical problems lately. im guessing this is from them being built outside of germany so the build quality suffers a bit. but other than that, it is truly a beautiful car in person. test drive it first.

german cars alway have some kind of problem, this is why i bought the Lexus. I was considering the 3series, A4's and the C300, Lexus's quality is hands down the best.

A5 is nice, but its expensive just at base price! All the decent options added on is about $50,000.
the IS350 has all the same features and luxury at a more affordable and reasonable price.

I'm fairly certain the A5/S5's are produced in Germany and have not heard of any electrical issues at all (been living in the Audi forums)...odd. I'll have to look into this...
I did already test drive the A5, the dealer only has a demo car available which is a fully loaded A5 with the S-Line package. The car, as mentioned, is BEAUTIFUL to say the least and the headlights are so cool
Also the interior fit and finish is great and their MMI nav/computer system is really neat. Best iPod integration I've seen.
That said I still really like the interior of the IS, especially the gauges, etc...and the ventilated seats are almost a must have in South Texas.
The other debate is the A5 seems slightly underpowered...the IS 350 falls between the A5 and the S5 in terms of speed and horsepower, but I'd bet the A5 handles much better, and the Quattro AWD is nice. I could go for an S5, but then I'd pay about $8k more with the "gas guzzler" tax and the MPG aren't all that great.
I just wish the IS was more exclusive as the Audi is. I still have yet to see an A5 or S5 on the road and I see about 50 IS's a day. 90% + are 250's but it really doesn't matter because you cannot really tell unless you actually read the badge (no big differentiators).

just saw S5 this morning..it was street park..
man..i couldn't resist to turn my head around..it looks beautiful!!!
but I've heard some bad stories about audi's electrical problems..
some of my friends own A4 and A6..and they've always complained about it
so my point is..if I were you..I'll LEASE the A5..or just BUY the IS350~

If you're going to go for a German Fraulein, it better be damn sexy or fast (or both). The A5 does not fulfill those requirements in my eyes. If you're spending that much money and want to stay Audi, get the TT IMO.
If you're deciding on A5 vs. IS350, IS350 FTW.

give it time... the a5/s5 just came out not to long ago. I have a feeling in a few years your going to see a lot of people with the A5. Its also weak, but if speed isn't your thing then go for it! If i were you I'd wait and save up the money for the s4 twin turbo! That i got my eye on.

I love the direction Audi is going.....I just don't think they are there yet with the whole package (Luxury, sport, reliability)....but, when they do get there I might have to jump ship.

You know what i take that back. I thought the A5 weighed a lot but it doesn't. Unladen is only 3384 so its actually pretty light for an AWD. Just checked the specs now.
