Replaced air filter and now I have 'Check VSC' and the engine light is on
any ideas what could have caused this? I plugged the connector in on the tub and secured it tight.
TIA

Did you turn on the car with the intake box removed? Drive it for about 15 miles or more and it should turn off at the next engine check. If not, then there may be a problem with the filter that you installed.

No I didn't start it with the box removed. I drove 20m to work this morning. Hopefully it will shut off when I start it this afternoon. If not I'll double check the fasteners, but I thought I had them secure.

Check VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) seems to be a common issue with a vacumn leak detected either under the hood or if the gas cap is not secured or tightened fully. the ECM should re-set after driving.

Hi Guys. Update. I started the car to go to lunch and it stayed on. Coming back from lunch it went off. I guess it resets after a few retries?
Someone asked earlier if I had the car on with the air filter off and I said no. Even though I didn't have it running I had the ACC on so I could listen to music. I wonder if that is a problem since it runs the check while the air tube thing is unplugged.
In either case it seems weird that a vacuum leak would cause the Stability Control light to come on.
Thanks for the help

When I said "on", I didn't mean "engine running". I meant the car turned on. Since you had the ACC on, that means that the onboard computer was active and running checks on your system. It noticed a problem with the air filter being disconnected and posted a warning. The check is run based on mileage or time, not based on the number of times you start your car or at start up. This idea makes sense as a problem can appear while driving.
