Default IS250 Manual tranny

I've searched the forum and couldn't find any talk about launching the IS250 manual. Do you think that the tranny would be able to take many launches? I've only had my car for three months now and it's my first manual, so I don't plan on launching anytime soon; however, my roommate (who has an STI) keeps talking about how he wants to "drive my car hard" and keeps talking about how he's going to "launch my car." Of course I have no plans of letting him drive my car, but has anybody tried driving their IS250 harder then they should? What do you think about how well the car will stand up?

When you say 'launch' what are you talking about, a off the line dig for max traction OR doing a burnout?

STI trannys are bulletproof fyi...WRX ones are "glass trannies"...

To the OP, shouldn't have a problem as long as you don't abuse the vehicle...you can drive a car hard and not abuse it...

And you would be covered under warranty, as long as you don't tell the dealership that you were "abusing" the car...

I tear up my IS250MT.
When I launch I rev about 3-4 RPM.
Then when the light is GREEN or whatever, I press the gas down a little faster than I pull the clutch out, so that it brings me a push forward.
Because the car is not fast at all. I used to have an 06' RSX Type-S and that thing was QUICK!

That's what my friend with the STI boasts about (the tranny being bulletproof)
Thanks though Calviin that's exactly what I wanted to know, my friend just bought a 1994 BMW 325 and he wants to race me when I go back to Plano this weekend, but I most likely wont, although it's good to know my car could handle it.
My friend with the STI has a bunch of mods and hasn't had any problem with his Tranny or at all with his car, he's about to get a carbon fiber drive shaft since its the next sensible upgrade.
Thanks for the information though, I'd like to learn more about my car before I push it to any limits. Any other comments would be appreciated.

well i was kinda being sarcastic.. because i heard a lot of evo/sti's tranny's fail often.. but it was due to the majority of the owners driving the crap out of their car.

my friends' STI actually has been problem free, it's also has a good amount of mods (i.e. drop, downpipe, HKS exhaust, carbon fiber drive shaft, chip) and he definitely tears the out of his car.

So you think the car jerks way harder at 4k then at just 3.5k?

hell yea alot more... at 3.5k it still take a second to catch on... and if you hold the traction button, you actually turn it off.. "vsc off" but if you press it.. it doesnt....

when i launch i do it at 4k n it does it perfectly... and i learned that from a subaru driver lmao

I'm not sure if I have a VSC off button I thought it was just a traction control; however, I do know how the petal dance to completely turn of the traction control. Does the 07 ML usually have the VSC button?
