Pardon my confusion but if like I've read here drl's are just highbeams run at a lower voltage, will changing my highbeams stock bulb to a 9005 4350K make the drl white?
Will I lose my highbeams?
1. no
2. no
BUT if you change the drl to LED you will lose your highbeam.
Just to be on the safe side, I would not run a higher wattage bulb than stock. I've fried wiring harnesses in the past because of this.
Yes,I'm a bit nervous about the extra 10 watts.I'd like to know if anyone here has had any problems with a 65 watt bulb set up.Someone told me in the Lighting forum I shouldn't have a problem, though.
Update:
I just spoke to a mechanic friend of mine and he says 20 extra watts on the curcuit won't be a problem.
I've read here on CL about LED DRL bulbs, and as I have HID's I don't need to worry about losing high beams. What LED bulbs are you guys (and gals) using?
wait, so if i want to change the DRL, i would need the 9006 bulb, not the 194? i thought the 9006 was the high beam bulb? is it the same as the drl bulb? also, when do the parking lights ever come on?
DRL and High eam are the same 9005 bulb. DRL = bulb at lower power. High beam = bulb at higher power.
LEDs do not function like this as far as I have been told, therefore you loose the high beam function if you switch to LED.
Parking lights are the 194 bulbs that are next to the DRL/Highbeam. They come on when your headlights turn on and the DRLs turn off.
