Drag Racing the IS350
#16
I'm not so sure about that at least not on the highway at 80+, I gave one a run for it over 4 times in a row on the freeway last weekend. The GT wasnt even close to contending. Of course a QT is a different race so you might be right. Just saying that on the freeway, the IS350 is MUCH faster.

So far, no bone stock is350 has broken the 13.60 barrier. I won't be surprised if someone gets lucky and gets a 13.58-13.59 one day.
I've gotten 13.70 twice in a row using a bone stock (w/ additional timeslips in 13.7x-13.8x range). If I had taken out the spare tire/carpet mats/rear headrests.. maybe I would've gotten into the 13.6x range.

I dont' see where everybody is getting these 13 second numbers with their IS cars, I think they are a little optomistic at best. My friend has my old S4 that ran a 14.2 with a 1.9 60 foot time consistently and he stomps my IS every time we race. I mean it is not even close he always gets by at least a car and half. I would guess the IS is more of a 14.3 or 14.4 car STOCK that is. It is an 05' S4 with the V8.

My time is posted there. I posted it here. Very first pass, 13.820 and sandbagging because I didn't have a helmet and didn't want to get kicked out. Lux package, absolutely NOTHING removed from the car, and a 235 lb driver. The car weighed 3620 that day as well, so if you want to play games with a quarter mile calculator, rock on.
I'm pretty confident the car will do better, I just need to buy a new helmet and find out. It helps a lot that Sacramento Raceway is at <100 ft ASL.
Way cool your wife likes to drive. My ex was that way. Unfortunately her courage was greater than her skill and cost us a '94 TT Supra hardtop.

wasn't even close to contending ? you have to be kidding me... unless you were racing a retard in an automatic... he probably wasn't racing... i have sceen GT's in my area run consistant mid 13's in bone stock M5(manual 5 speed) convertable mustangs... i will say the auto mustangs suck so if the one you raced was an auto your story is believable.

As long as you are talking about the NEW mustangs. Such as 2005/6/7..
The older GT mustangs are push overs.

I had two mustangs and both were far from push overs. Then again I had a 79 cobra with a modified 300hp 5.0 and a 72 mach with a modified 351. The new mustangs are quick cars and as always they have 10,000 aftermarket parts to bolt on and make them real street monsters. I looked at the Mustang but I hated the interior...cheap as ever. But the engines are strong.
The IS350 is more than a match for an automatic GT (imho) and could also take a 5 speed GT with a good driver if you had the traction control turned off. By off I mean hold down the button on the 07 or do the pedal dance in the 06.
Personally I look forward to racing a GT as well as a Charger Srt and a GTO.

OMG, I'm famous I'm on there too. I went in June to the track with Payam. He's on that list too. It was our first time and it was over 100 degrees out and very humid. Need to go back now that it is cooler and see if I can bring my time down.

add the 335i to the list, here is a real world run from a 335i automatic:

just as quick as the M3!
