Downshifting in Is350
#3
The IS350's transmission does not rev-match on downshifts. It is not a feature mechanically or electronically (as I'm not quite sure how it works), but is a feature on Infinity models, as well as the ZF transmission in Aston Martins, Range Rovers, and Jaguars.
There was a long debate where this was mentioned. I would suggest the search to find out all sorts of information on this topic.

The purpose
Downshifting for the IS350 is not necessarily for gain the speed from higher revs buts it is to keep the transmission at a certain gear, lets say you take a wide sweeping corner at 75. By downshifting and keeping it at a high rev (i believe at that speed its 3 gear and at 5800rpm) it allows for a greater amount of power to be avalible if needed to navigate the turn. My opinion is that the transmission needs work in order for it to be a true "paddle shifter" but for now it works.
