I prefer 7K rpm and a slow clutch release. Makes more smoke that way.

Naw, a lil' clorox and slight pressure on the brakes is all that is needed to melt some rubber . . .

I'm assuming you have a 350... I was launching mine at 2500 because anything more than that, and I would start to spin my tires...

The torque converter stalls at 2490 +/-150 rpm. You're not going to exceed that. But, you could cook your transmission if you hit stall for more than 5 seconds according to the Service Manual.

You only need to push the gas hard enough to hit stall speed, then when you are ready to go, lift the brake and hammer the gas. If you've turned off the VSC with the pedal dance, you should see a 60' time between 2.0 and 2.2 seconds if you got it even close to right. If it's more than 2.2, you've either applied too much gas too soon and lost time from spinning the wheels, or you've applied too little gas too late and didn't get on it fast enough.
