well the IS may have a small backseat but I will be coming from a 2000 prelude where a 5'2' asian girl would have trouble fitting in the claustraphobic backseat, its an good improvement for me. I myself 5'10 fit in the back with a little bit of room. It any passengers complain I will just tell them It couldve been worse you could be in a prelude

I am 5'10'' 155#. I have somewhat a Marfan body habitus (to all the non - physical therapists and healthcare workers - Abraham Lincoln is the prototype Marfan body habitus). I nor my father (similar build) can sit in the backseat regardless of how far the front seat are pulled up. Legroom is not so much the issue for us as is headroom; I and my father have to sit with neck flexed if we are not to slouch.
My son (8 y/o and 4'6" and 75# and 8 years from inheriting this car) complains of no leg room when he sits behind driver's seat with me driving; so he always sits behind the passenger seat which is pulled forward.
I knew of these limitations when I bought the car; heck just look at the sloping roofline and check out the overall wheelbase and length of the car. What makes this car look great will kill rear headroom. Anyone compare rearseat headroom in the Mercedes CLS versus the standard S Class? I did and similar finding here.
I find the rear seats a bonus for when I have to take the kids somewhere with me driving. I do find the lack of fold down rear seats a big minus as cannot put long items in the trunk (i.e. why should econo box sport sedans have it and this car does not).
