Is Auto Gear-change Pattern the Same for Sports and Drive Mode?
I'm excited to take delivery of my IS250 RWD Auto 2 days ago.
I found that driving in Drive Mode to feel unresponsive and sluggish for the first 100 KM but is starting to open and loosen up beautifully.
ECT PWR Mode is very dynamic but the button behind the steering is inconvenient to activate. Sports Mode is easier to activate with a flick of the gearshift.
I realise that Sports Mode designates the highest gear that the transmission can upshift to. Assuming I set the highest gear to 6, does Sports Mode offer a more dynamic and responsive gear-change pattern compared to Drive Mode?
Thanks for the advice!

I believe it does. The "manual" mode automatically changes to the "best" gear below the chosen gear (i.e. if you choose the 6th gear, the electronic tranny will change to the best appropriate gear below depending on your speed). By choosing the Sports Mode, it will choose a more appropriate gear to downshift to if you need to accelerate from a higher gear.
