Thumbs up My new IS 350 & Thanks :-)

Well, I've finally had a moment to sit down and post! I took delivery of my new IS 350 from Lexus of Rockville in MD last Tuesday night (a week ago). The car came in on Sat. but they were out of stock on spoilers at both the port AND the regional warehouse, so it took a few days to get the spoiler. My new car had 5 miles on the odometer when I bought it (I didn't ask where they came from)

I special ordered it on 12/13/05, and got it on 4/18/06, so believe 'em when they tell you 4 months, on the east coast at least. Now that the stress of selling my Passat has passed (which you can actually see in the background of one of the pics in my album), it's finally hit me that I'm the proud new owner of a lexus. The car has been great so far; of course it's a learning process with all the controls, especially on the Nav system. Kinda hard keeping it under 4K RPMs too (per my dealer's recommendation on breaking it in), ESPECIALLY when accelerating quickly off the line.

Anyway, I had a great experience working with Bernie Kitts (Rockville on the CL boards) at Rockville Lexus... would def. recommend him as a knowledgable Lexus enthusiast who won't pressure you or assume that just cause you look like you're 25 doesn't mean you can't buy a $40K car. I talked to salespeople at probably 10 different dealers, and worked closely with 3 or 4 of em, so I feel I can comment.

As you can see from the photos, I got:

- Smoky Granite Mica with Black Interior
- Luxury Pkg w/wheels
- Nav/Mark Levinson combo
- Spoiler

Here's a link to my Club Lexus album with about 20 photos... I've included a few below to give you an idea.

https://www.clublexus.com/gallery/sh...y.php?cat=3575

Well, that's about it. Thanks to everyone for their helpful advice & encouragement when I was asking numerous questions back in October, Nov., Dec. researching what I was gonna get! Thanks to the people I PM'd asking where they got a particular deal, who they worked with, etc. Thanks to the folks on here & MyIS.net who answer endless newbie questions from people they'll never meet, knowing they won't get anything in return except the satisfaction of helping someone. I sincerely appreciate it.

This is my first new car in 6 1/2 years, and it's quite a feeling...

Steve

Thanks for sharing your special ordering experience with the local dealers. I am sure these information will come in handy when I go shop

Congrats!

I almost had one just like this a few months ago, but someone else called in their deposit 2 minutes before me . Anyway, congrats on your new car. Enjoy.

I also just got the same package, ...well almost (I got the Sport). But fortunately, I skipped the 4 month wait and ordered one from the other side of the country and am having the car shipped. Everytime I see a SMG, I can't wait to get mine! Congrats!.

Where would I find one of these "microfiber towels"?

I believe the rear lip spoiler (code "LR") is $355 MSRP, $246 Invoice to buy & have installed. I think there are Lexus parts websites that sell them online, not sure how much though.

Are they known by any other names, or should I just go to the auto parts section of Walmart/Target and ask the guy for a microfiber towel?

Is this the same thing that you find in glasses stores like lenscrafters, for cleaning your glasses, Oakleys, etc.?

Check the detail section for a sticky from a company called 'pakshak' who makes great CF stuff and gives our members a discount. The ones at Walmart are OK (the one here carries some bundled by Turtlewax) but the Pakshak ones are very nice and decent price.

Great info, thanks Dave!! Now my question is, which Micro Fiber towel should I get from Pak Shak? All I need is something to clean my Nav screen with.

  • Ultra
  • Ultra-Smooth
  • Ultra-Plush
  • Ultra-Fine
  • Waffle weave glass towel
