Sun roof rattle - anyone else experience this?
I noticed that when the sunroof shade is open, it would squeek and rattle, when I close it everything is silent and nice.
Is this normal, because I can assume when the sunroof shade is in the open position it might rub on the sleave inside the roof.

I've always driven with the shade open since I got the car and so far, I haven't experienced that issue yet. If it gets more pronounced, you can always take it back to the dealer and have them fix it

I get the rattle but I found that if I open I set it to tilt and then close if fixes the problem for me. One poster I think said that his dealer diagnosed it as the rubber seal or something on the sunroof rubbing.

I'd bring my car in for service, but those guys are vulchers when it comes to your car, I don't want to chance getting dents and dings on my car; especially since I just put two coats of Zaino on it.

I have quite the opposite problem, when the sunroof is closed, I can hear consistent squeaks and the sunroof feels a bit loose when pushed. Probably a faulty seal or bolt that needs to be tightened. No issues when the sunroof is open or tilted.

If your sunroof squeaks, dont bother bringing it in for service. The squeak is from the weather stripping rubbing the metal frame. As the car flexes, it squeaks. I brought mine in for service and was told they "adjusted the glass" and greased the weather stripping. Well, it still squeaks and only things greased were the top of my car, my seats and head liner.

Yes I'm having the same problem when the sunroof is closed. At first it wasnt that noticable when the sunshade was closed. Unitl last night. It was a cool evening and I was driving home with the radio turned down I hit a lot of uneven pavement it creaked like crazy (even with the sunshade closed). I'm sure it had to do with the damp air and rubber contracting. The sunroof on my old IS300 creaked and got worse everytime I brought it to the dealer (it spent a lot of time there for that issue and was never resolved).
Those of you who brought it in to replace the seal, did it work?

I had this problem and I took it to the dealership to fix. They ordered some parts, and replaced a couple of things. I can't remember specifically right now, but I'll look up the work order when I get home and post. I remember that it was not the sunroof specifically though, it was something else they had to replace. It just sounded like it was coming from the sunroof...
