Aftermarket Oil Filters?
I came to the conclusion that I want to do as much of the basic maintanance that I can on my IS 250. Not to save money, but more because every time i took my previous car in for maintanance (either dealer or another shop), there would always be some sort of grease or dirt stain outside or inside the car. I was looking around for oil filters and came across these on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lexus...spagenameZWDVW
I was wondering how these would compare to the original Lexus oil filters? Does it make a difference or not really? I am planning on changing my oil every 3000 miles or so as I do with all of my cars. Also while we are on the topic, what type of oil do you guys reccomend? Since I am changing the oil so often, I do not think it is really necessary to use synthetic but what brand of regular oil is good to use?

The filters in that auction are for the IS300, and won't fit your IS250.
Personally I'd use the OEM filters, as they aren't terribly expensive, especially if you buy them from a Toyota dealer.
As for the conventional vs. synthetic question, do a search; the topic has been discussed extensively.

I agree with , Bichon. You should get you a Toyota filter . You don't want anyone denying your warranty if you need it. keep your receipts , for oil and filters. If you do buy another filter get a name brand like Wix filters or Purolator.

Wix has a excellent website to choose a correct filter.
Its cool to do it yourself. recycle the oil. There is an excellent detailed steps post showing how to change it in the sticky post.
