Default Aftermarket Headunit / NAV system Idea.

Tell me what you guys think, I may try to either design this on my own or try to get a company (Metra) to work with me on this idea.

If we take a look at the non-NAV systems out there we see that we see that the center console from top-down starts with the AC system. Next, we have the radio display with optional radio controls. After that is the Clock, airbag light. Last is the Radio/CD Changer.

My idea would be to create a customer plastic piece, move the clock/airbag down to the bottom, removing the CD/Radio. This piece would be an exact color match to factory or close.

Then remove the radio in the mid-section and that should leave you with a Double-Din size opening for a touch screen NAV such as Pioneer or Eclipse.

Finally have a second Plastic/ Fiberglass panel made to go around the new NAV and the existing AC. I think with a little work this is very possible solution.

Also with many aftermarket NAV's out there, they offer steering wheel remotes and voice activation.

Tell me what you guys think!
