The tire stretch comparison thread
Yes i know there is a "will it fit" thread and a who can put the most "aggressive wheels" thread.
This thread is none of the above.
This is a preferred tire for your stretch thread. i lurk in the background and its hard to find good tire reviews for different applications. This thread could be useful for those who go through tires in less than a year. You can still get performance from being cambered on a good tire.
What helps for those who stretch tires is if the tire size is slimmer/ wider than specified, how well it stretches (hard or soft compound) and how it rides. What air pressure did you need to maintain before bead was lost. estimated camber on setup. and do they flip well?
If there is another category to review on please chime in.
Please keep the negativity to a minimum and "he said she said". actual experience from yourself please.
my contribution:
Hankook evo v12:
stretched 225/30/20 and 255/30/20 on a 8.5" and 10". slight stretch, rides firm gets loud as tire wears, traction is 3 out of 5 at 2.5 degrees camber. no debeading issues. Not flippable (dry rotting bead)
Toyo proxes 4 plus: 225/30/20 on 9" and 255/30/20 on 11". tire runs thinner, softer sidewall quiet and comfortable through treadwear. traction 4.5 out of 5
loses bead around 36 psi. 4 degrees. Flippable

Good thread. 225/30/20 tires are very difficult to come by. There are only a few manufacture that sells that size. Tirerack only has 3. I know 225/30/20 is the suggested size for our cars, but would 235/30/20 be an decent alternative?

http://tyrestretch.com/ is a good place to start when looking for visuals of a certain tire size on a wheel width also.

Thanks for posting this. Currently I am running a 275/30/20 on the rear of my car with a 10.5" wheel. Slight stretch, it fits perfectly lowered ( Tein S type) without any rear qtr modifications. Happy about that.
Now the fronts, a while different story. The 245/35/20 rub on everything. I will be switching to a 225/30/20 and removing the bumper support. And trimming more liner. I can post pictures next month
