You pay more for the car and then they pay for your "free" service out of some of their extra profit.
(alternatively some dealers will let you "pre-pay" maintenance at a 'discount' which is also a pretty poor deal, much like the "tires for life" deal is usually pretty awful)

I go to Toyota.
And always request No Wash. Also No Tire Dressing, as that stuff just slings all over the wheel wells !

They sell used cars of all makes and certainly do those oil changes, so I am sure Toyota has no issues. My Lexus and my wife's Toyota use the same oil and filter - what could be the issue?

When I got the car I had it done at dealer (first free and paid for 2-3 more) with 5W30 conventional oil
Then I switched to Motul 5W30 Synthetic with OEM filter done at a garage
Just earlier this week I did an oil change again (about 52,000KM) and changed to Eneos 5W30 synthetic, great stuff

My garage
15-20 min MAX.
Buy Mobil1 at Walmart and a surplus of filters online.
I run over a 2x4 with my front tires and then place ramps because the IS is too low to get up on ramps.
[QUOTE=Woodrow;7338246] How do you all keep from getting oil all over the garage floor when you pull the plug or remove the filter canister?
Get a larger pan, drain from the plug and re-plug it.
Then move the pan under the filter and loosen the filter but don't unscrew all the way, let it drip oil first, then remove completely.

In my garage. That way I know everything is done properly and know that the drain plug is actually tightened properly. Alot of dealers have low level knuckle heads do the oil changes. Peace of mind...
