hmm, maybe it is my excitement for this new IS, but i would think i would already have seen stuff in magazines....reviews. and ads on tv for a "comepletely new car"
anyway, looking forward for more info everyday!
good to be here
i must admit, my decision has been nailed down to a G35 or TL , but now the IS will be factored in---cant wait to see it in person. everything i have read is awsome.
thanks guys

Lexus marketed the 1IS pretty hard when it debuted, even giving one away. They did it near the cars release which was June 2000. .
With the internet today, people talk. And this is not to be snobbish but its a "Lexus" so it will pretty much sell regardless.
I expect the ads to be even more aggresive than the 1GS and 2GS ads, showing the GS speeding, the exhaust roaring etc. I really expect Lexus to push this 310hp thing till we are blue in the face, similar to how they pushed the 300hp GS 400 in fall 1997.

i dont' think lexi in general get big press before they're introduced. they usually grow by word of mouth. at least, that's how it has been with, say, the new GS or RX. it's not a car that your average joe would go "hey, that's a new lexus" because lexus has done so much marketing.
i recall the GS having nary a preview test until right before they started to go on sale. i don't think the IS will be any different.

I dont know what else would you expect - when it was announced, it was on cover of every magazine that exists, it was posted everywhere... Now press is probably driving it around and there is blackout until they can post their stories - which probably will be within a month or so.
Everything that is known about this car has been posted already, they have to leave something until actual introduction, or it will be "old" news...

I saw a commercial for the new IS yesterday afternoon for the 1st time. I hope to see it again soon, I missed the 1st half of it. It was really a quick commercial though about 30 seconds.

Lexus does a lot of marketing for its vehicles, so in no time you should see a lot of IS350. Lexus Ads are in the WSJ print edition almost everyday. Too much early info release probably isn't good - too much time in between that may actually frustrate the interested parties.
