about to buy 2003 is300
About to sign the deal on an 2003 is300.
The car has around 70k miles on it... I don't think the timing belt has been changed yet. How much does this usually go for/ when is best to change it?
Any suggestions/things I should know before diving in?
BTW
Auto leveling lamp indicator is on & driver door latch doesn't work but is getting fixed.

So far I've owned 3 first gen Is300's, fantastic machines all round. In terms of the timing belt. 70k is close to timing belt interval, I'd peak inside the timing belt cover and make sure that belt itself is in good shape, look for even teeth wear, and no cracks or odd noises. I think it's a couple of 10mm bolts that holds the top part on if my memory serves me.

Awesome! Going to pick it up from the dealer tomorrow. I'll open it up and take a look at the timing belt. Thank you
I'll post pictures if I buy it.

Oh man, you didn't mention it was a Gita. I love these things, I secretly lust after a white one in my neighborhood.
I think the TB is supposed to be changed at 90k, but you are well past the time interval. Like another member mentioned, just pull the top of the cover off and make sure the belt doesn't look dried out, cracked or prematurely worn.

I was trying to be a little sly / surprise you guys Its a beautiful beast. I'm already in love.
I checked the timing belt at the dealership, looked great! No cracks, all the teeth were perfect etc. Bae's engine bay is really clean too.
She is a little squeaky around the rear passenger wheel... I don't think its a trailing arm (very familiar how they sound... I need all of them replaced on my volvo240) but suspect it was hit sometime and never reported/fixed up because of the tail pipe... Hoping its just the suspension/a shock so I can get my upgrade over with. Also might be a wheel bearing? Not too sure
