Can I replace my 2002 is300 transmission with a 2004 is300 transmission? Is it a clean swap without any modifications?

Yes, all 2002 - 2005 auto transmissions are the same. The 2001 ecu grabs the spead signal from a different souce so I am not 100% if that is a direct replacement.

Pretty sure its not possible - the upper oil pan has to be removed and by the time you got the motor high enough for it to be removed and clear the lower subframe, you might as well pull it completely...

I'm here to tell you if you have a bad rod bearing, that crank needs to be thoroughly inspected, perhaps the rod too... Just slapping a rod bearing in there is not an acceptable repair IMO... Had a friend try that, motor lasted about 4 days before it started knocking again...

Why are you needing to replace a rod bearing??? Since you'll have to pull the motor anyways, might as well just pull the crank have it checked, turned if necessary, replace all the bearings, then should be good to go...
