CEL - Catalytic Converters dead?

The mechanic said according to my Check engine light, both my Catalytic Converters are broken. He said it will cost at least $2000 to fix, is this true?

Did you go to a Stealership?

Its easy to do it yourself. Just unbolt the old, then mount the new. Done. Might take 4-6hrs.

No I went to a personal owned mechanic shop. The guys at MY.IS guided me to the right direction. I'm thinking it may just be the sensors, I was thinking of doing the O2 Sim.

P0430 - Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
P0420 - Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
