My Cig lighter plug retrofit DIY
I dunno about you guy's, but I always thought the cig lighter was always sticking up out of nowhere and looked very out of place. It bothered me from the day I bought the car and finally I got tired of it and did something about it.
I stopped by Lexus and picked up a spare center console acc plug unit, which has a door on it. There are two kinds for the center console. One is rectangular and has writing and one is round with no writing.
You'd think replacing the plug would be simple - as it is in every other car. Well, nothing fits.... You have to use a high strength epoxy to secure the plug in and you have to use various parts from the center console as well as the original location to make it all work together.
Little known fact - These plugs are three piece units, not one piece like other cars. In the end you have 6 pieces to mix and match to make fit as much as possible.
Here's what I ended up with.
I have eliminated my following complaints-
1) Silver and white bulk around cig plug base looked bad against the black console
2) Cig plug stood out like a sore thumb and got in the way of things sliding in and out of the cubby
3) No flap to cover plug when not in use for non smokers.

Here's the "other" center console plug, which is rectangular. This is the one I bought and actually wanted to be in the console, the round one was originally in the console.
Then here are a few finished shots
When done just pop the top and plug your acc in!

Nice, very nice!
With the 5 speed, radar detector cords, charger cords, etc sometimes get in the way... especially if you use a splitter.
Thanks for adding to the knowledge.

OH, and if you use the rectangular one I bought to use in my center console, it also closely fits in the blank beside the trac button, so you can add another outlet there with a door so it looks factory
