Test drove a 2006 RX 400h
I test drove a 2006 rx 400h recently.
My personal experience:
The dealer and I had come to an agreement on price and I went over there with a check from the bank...
a) The nav screen in 2006 is hideous (as others have mentioned in the forum) - I would not be able to look at that thing and drive - I will look for a 2007/08 as others in the forum suggested!
b) the gear shift control looks the same as my sienna which is a 2005 - I understand the cost savings but I wish Lexus kept the designs unique to the Lexus brand - I feel like I am getting the same thing again....
c) brakes felt a little soft similar to the sienna
Apart from this some experiences with the dealer
a) The car looked great in photos but had scuffs and dents all over when I went to look at it...the side rails were coming off
b) the back bumper on one side was slightly off and I could see a gap - the guy said its just missing clips and that I can easily put them...
c) this was another luxury car dealer (not lexus) and he had not even cleaned the inside of the car properly....stains on seats here and there...
There is a reason why the dealer prices are higher and I thought they take care of things like these...
I ended up walking away....the hunt is back on..

While the brakes feel bad they actually work great during hard braking. We just got a bigger boat and we towed 3000 lbs this weekend (with surge brakes). My RX400 brakes are original with 110k miles on them and they still can stop the big trailer fast.
