So i brought my car back to get the 3 injectors done. After 4 days they told me that the codes came back after replacing the 3 injectors. They are going to start from scratch to figure it out. This was last thursday, told me that 12 injectors need to be replaced $5000+.

Yesterday they called back told me that they couldn't figure out and they had called Lexus Canada for help and spoke to an Engineer there. Engineer said, has the spark plugs been replace (92,000k replacing them is around $610)? No, service rep said never, I don't know I bought from the first owner. So now, for the jaw dropper. Engineer said the timing chain needs to be replace given the previous problem I paid for - skipping a tooth etc. The service rep said the timing chain is stretched..... cost of replacing is 25 hours of shop time and total to $5100 to do this job.

Everytime they call me the problem gets worse and more $$. Nightmare.

What should I do, is timing chain under warranty how does a metal chain stretch?

That most definitely sounds like a giant nightmare...

Timing chain stretch SHOULD sound like that. 12 injectors should not cost $5000, Sewell sells them for a decent amount, not to mention the CL vendor code for discount. Spark plugs are 6 plugs, that's about $60 to DIY, and it's not that labor intensive at all IMO. I would take it away from that dealership. It sounds like they are making guesses at this point.

Have you checked Lexus Regional section for a competent outside sourced mechanic shop?

It's unfortunate to hear about this, wish you the best of luck OP!

No offence but, why would you buy a hybrid with checklights on? Was it regularly serviced? Did you check the history before you bought it? You knew they were on when you bought it, right?

So I got my car back finally basically nothing was done unless a great amount of money to possibly fix the engine light. Happy or not I'm glad I have my car back didn't realize how much I really missed it.

The shop couldn't figure it out but boiled it down to 2 things spark plugs and new timing chain. I did the spark plugs 700$, and held off the chain.

No offense taken. I saw a opportunity and I took it and now discovering it's an unknown problem than I originally thought I did all the steps to prevent such mishap but it still happened. 200$ at openroad inspection, lien check, service history check, 1000$ chain readjustment etc.. It's a freaken Lexus, when the manager at Lexus told me that he hasn't heard or seen such problem then what am I suppose to do? See what boardies think and their input. Also changed the first post sorry about that. Thanks for your input anyways.

My GSh is at the dealer right now they spent a week trying to figure out the problem testing new parts etc. with no solution. They sent the "data packet" to California for Lexus Hybrid engineers to look over and they sent back a task list to do to determine of the head gasket is cracked/blown. They will report back to me on money with the results. Might be worth mentioning OP. ill upload the service documents when I get my car back. Hopefully this doesn't cost me my first child to fix
