Default Rear view mirror, limited line of sight

I am assuming that it’s a known fact as many people have told me this.

You have limited view on your rear view mirror. I personally have to scoot down to see farther in the rear view and it is becoming an annoying issue for me.
What are your thoughts on this and has anyone tried to find a fix for this issue, by maybe lowering the Rear View mirror or a more radical idea, "remove the Spoiler on the rear window!

I have mine set so that I can see out the whole back window if I move my head just a bit.. Not sure what you are referring to?

Bob
I see by a previous post you're sort of tall at 6'4". The good news is you get to see over the horizon before most of us but.... That does put you up higher. You mentioned on a previous post your head touches the roof or nearly does. That's really tall because for most of us the head room is 'abundant'. You can't help it, but Lexus has built the car for the average size of the majority of us. I just can't see a fix for you but I'm on the opposite end and grateful for all the height adjustment . If I could be me in a taller frame I'd seriously consider it and learn to duck

Aside from that my beef about visibility is the right front quarter when coming to a stop sign. Where I sit in the car it's hard to see 'around' that big pillar and I almost drove into someone coming when I first got it. So I've learned I have to lean over and look around it. I wish I didn't have to but I still wouldn't have anything else. There's so much good with this car I can overlook a few shortcomings that I can work around.

Now if the 'tall' and 'small' of us could get discounts for extra height or lack of then ...... But that ain't gonna happen either. So we just have to adapt.

LOL, Jim, yes I am tall and yes, my hair do touch the roof, but I have had that with most of the cars I have owned (BMW 318, Merc 300SD, Ford Festiva (yes Festiva, little 2 door coupe ), Chevy S-10, Mits Starion(remember from Cannonball run movie?), SAAB 9-5 (more than ample room everywhere), Honda Pilot, but I never had this issue regarding the rear view mirror.
I still like and prefer the RX over others.

Has anyone seen anyone take off the rear spoiler?? Not sure if that is even an option???

It's not an option at all. The rear wiper and washer is up in there and probably some antenna stuff too. Like in the Military, we adapt and overcome. But in your case I'm not sure what overcome means . I could always add another cushion if necessary .

I guess your post really stuck with me because at every traffic light today I found myself "playing" with my rear view mirror! My guess is that the girl behind me must have thought that some dirty old man just couldn't get enough of a look!!

In any event, in my 2010 450h the spoiler is not visible from inside the vehicle, unless you lay on the floor in the rear compartment.

I did find that I was able to move the mirror head in all directions, as you would expect. If that is all that you move, I could get myself high enough in the seat to appreciate your problem (I am only 6' 0"). However, the mirror head is connected to the windshield (and the sensing devices) via a "barrel" that is also moveable. My "barrel" does not move with the same level of ease as the mirror head. By moving the "barrel" you are able to adjust the height of the mirror and hopefully solve your problem. Give it a try. Let us know how you make out

I knew they (Lexus) would not oversee something this simple.
BOB you Da Man! I guess a namesake had to come up with the obvious answer.
I was able to push the "barrel" down and now I do not have to bow my head everytime I need to check the rear view mirror.
I was just a bit too cautious not to apply too much force on it.

THANK YOU!!

Glad it worked for you!! Enjoy your vehicle.

Now, if I could only get my mirror back to the exact position it was in before I started playing with it!
