Best mileage ever
Last week right after I filled up at COSTCO, I took a different route home staying on surface streets and really watching the acceleration. I had several stops but tried as much as possible to remain around 45 while cruising. It's 17.4 miles from there to home. My mileage was 36.9 on the screen.
On Saturday I made a trip down to Milledgeville, a little under 270 miles round trip and traveled on State highways where the speed varied between 50 and 65 and some interstate never going over 70. The indicator was reading 33.6 when I returned home that evening. A couple of short trips around town and today back down to COSTCO to fill up again. Trip odo was 298.2 and added 9.088 gal which is 32.8125 mpg. The indicated mileage prior to today's fill up's went down to 32.3 because of short trips around town with cold starts. Actual mileage based on gallons used VS mileage is even better than display was indicating.
After filling up and coming back same route and same mileage the screen is now reading 38 even. Also shown is the graph showing when I last reset it. The 48.6 has no correlation to this event, that was a trial run home from local gas station trying to keep ICE off as long as possible.

Elevation in Milledgeville where I went Saturday was 385 ft above sea level. At Atlanta International Airport it's 1026 ft.

Which tire do you use? MY RX was not good at the efficiency so that I compared with the test-driving car from my dealer. I found the dealer's car was better than mine! (33 HWY, 38 non-HWY when I tried). Then, the dealer tried to check the differences using chassis dynamometer, with the same driving pattern. Judging from the test, tire made the difference of efficiency. Mine was 19inch Dunlop sport 270 (36.5MPG). Theirs was 18inch Bridgestone Dueler H/L(38.7MPG). They tried putting their tire on my RX, the car recorded the same number as 38.7MPG.
But, it is just one of the factor. Gas pedaling habit must impacts more. My recent 250 miles record is 30.7. From home at 333ft to higher place, getting worse record (ex. 24MPG). Return from higher, getting better (ex. 38MPG). When I run flat or slightly down slope at 30-50mph, the power meter points 0 to 1/8 or 1/4 of dark green, where I can keep speed and save battery power(5-10A), and get the better number.

I could not be happier with my RX which now is pushing 14,000 miles. I hang around 34 mpg ever since I had it here in the south east. That is with regular unleaded but our fuel does not have winter mixtures.Still tight and very quite. I have the Mich tires thank goodness.
I do miss the auto high beam option my 2010RX350 had.

I have a 2012 RX 450h approaching 5K miles. Have not changed oil yet. Mileage since refill is about 26 w/regular gas. Elev. 650, trying to be efficient. Up some hills, down others. Will be in Fla. in January. Hope it improves.

The car has so much power, it's hard to 'not' play with it from time to time, but if you use a light foot consistently on acceleration and try as much as possible to maintain even speeds and slow down early for stops, your economy will improve. It's harder in the winter when the batteries and engine are cold but if your trips are three miles or longer you can achieve the advertised mileage or better.
I used to enjoy hard charging driving but when I spent the extra money for the Hybrid I realized I had to change my style to get everything possible out of it. And it's delivering. Driving like I used to gets me better mileage than non-hybrid but not as good as I get with my new driving style.

On the other side of the coin and representing the Eco-challenged faction of CL, with the batteries glowing bright red under the back seat and the twin electric motors singing in high pitched harmony will the hybrid compliment (some may say compensate for) my driving pattern? Heck yes! I'm getting some of the best mileage I've ever gotten in 40 some years of car ownership. But then I used to add oil at each fill up on some of those cars too!
The best thing about last night was only paying $3.26 a gallon for premium!

How are you guys getting such great mileage?? My first tank, I got 28. Haven't averaged more than 25 since then. Have 1800 miles on the car now, and really wish I could get up to 30mpg!!

I have a neighbor (bout a mile away) that bought one and said the same thing. Didn't believe my mileage. I drove his with him for about 50 miles and the mileage went up, way up. Then he drove and it went back down, way down. Jackrabbit starts, braking at the lat moment, unsteady speeds, and cold short trips will bring the bad mileage. The opposite will hover more in the neighborhood of 30 or better. Plus speeds over 70 on the highway drag it down significantly.
Yesterday I made a trip to Milledgeville over mostly country roads with two strips of interstate about 16 miles each way at 70mph and about 60'sh on the state highways. It's about 130 miles each way. I average 32.3 at the end of the day. His car could have done it but won't with him driving
