RX 400h trailer wiring

Watch this video and pause at 1:30. His hand is pointing at both the plug and where the connector will be taped (if equipped). Some people just remove the plug from below and can see the connector and plug in. I was able to remove my tool tray and then get my hand under the side tray to pull the connector loose from the tape that held it to the harness.
This video is for an install of an aftermarket harness in a RX that is not pre-wired but it shows where the factory wiring would be if equipped.

Perchance, could someone take the time to post a picture of a hitch installed on you RX400h? Having a 3rd party hitch installed soon and would like to see how it actually looks.
Thanks

"Mine is an 08 model though, so I don't know if your 06 would be identical. I found my connector taped up to the harness over in the left hand corner, inside.
Good luck...Randy'
I have a 2007 RX400h and my connector was on the left under the plastic bin.

I just installed my hitch. I found the connector but what is the other connector for?
Also here is a tip for a one man install.. i used a jack stand to hold up one side.

2008 RX400h Trailer wiring parts
I spent many hours trying to find the correct trailer light wiring for my Lexus. It's a Toyota part. 08942-48870-BB. You can get this at either your Toyota dealer or Lexus dealer. If you have a fuse in your fuse box labeled towing, you'll find a female socket in the drivers side rear cargo area tail light wiring harness. Simply plug 08942-48870-BB into it. I first purchased an aftermarket kit. Way overkill!

I got a $7 trailer wire extension from menards and a few quick splices and I am good to go. Used a multimeter to figure which wire was which. Add wire loom to it as well.
The colors of the wires actually matched up except for one of them. I managed to blow a few fuses using the multimeter on the small connector .

I have a 2006 Lexus 400h w/ the "Towing Pre Package" per the sticker, seeing the transmission cooler and other stuff. So with that said it appears from you and other posts all I really need is Plug & Play male socket to connect to the female behind the left rear panel or just tap into the wires with a 4 post flat plug? I see yours is a 2008 but I do not think they changed anything? Kick it back....................

Or....You can just buy an aftermarket trailer harness for that tow-package connector, like I did: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ge-option.html
I didn't want to pay the $50 for the Toyota harness so I found another one that fit perfect at a fraction of the cost.
ENJOY!

The easiest way is to go to your fuse box and see if you have a 30amp fuse in the slot marked as TOW. If you do you are ready to go. Yes, you can get a connector from Toyota or Lexus (same) to plug into the white plug you will find on the left rear cargo area under the left rear plastic storage holder. Now that connector will be $50 to $70. Your can go to any parts store, Walmart , about anywhere an get a good 18 guage flat 4 post for the vehicle for about $6. Cut the plug off the car and solder, butt-end or leave the connector and use plastic quick connects behind the factory plug.
NOW, if it does not have the 30amp fuse and there is not a connector in the left rear, you will have to install the call for $40-$60 connector and run a power wire directly to the cars 12v battery. Before you buy the more expensive set up check and see if the connector is in the left rear, someone many not have put the fuse in. )
Hope this put the question to bed...........................

I know this harness works because it's exactly what I used for my RX330 w/ 'Towing Pre Package', seen here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ge-option.html
