New Tires = No More Noise
Our 2006 RX 400h has 56,700 miles. The original Goodyear tires were totally shot at 13,000 miles and were replaced with Bridgestone Alenzas/Duelers. Lately the car has been quite loud at highway speeds. We considered trading for a new RX 450h last weekend but it would have been an out-of-the-pocket $32,000 difference as they are not discounting the RX 450h and were only offering $23,000 for our car. We will drive our 400h another two years and 30,000 miles thank you.
New Alenzas/Duelers were installed today and it is once again a quiet car at highway speeds. This is my wife's car and I drove it through a thunderstorm on my way to get the new tires. It did some slipping and sliding at 65 mph as I ran through the highway lane ruts you typically see in asphalt roadways, so it was time for new tires although there was good tread (not down to the wear bars) on the tires. The Alenzas gave us over 43,000 miles of good performance in all conditions. Am writing this as reference information for my fellow 400h owners.
