Default Driving up to NY from SC in a few days, suggestions requested

I just moved from Long Island NY to Anderson SC a few months ago. I have driven between SC & NY about 15 or 20 time these past few months. Most of the time I drive on 77 north to 81 north to 78 east. The one time A few months I took 95 north through Wash DC I got stuck in traffic for hours. I took a gamble on DC because I calculated I would be in DC around 8 to 9 PM and expected the traffic would not be bad at that time. The problem is the weather reports around Harrisburg PA through NJ into NY seem pretty bad as far as snow goes. So I have been thinking about taking 95 through DC or maybe the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel to Rt 13 to avoid the snow. I have never taken the C/B/B/T to RT 13 before, does it involve a lot of stop lights through small towns? Is it worth taking this route to avoid the chance of driving through heavey snow? I just sold my Jeep Grand Cherokee that had a great full time 4 wheel drive system in favor of the Lexus. The Lexus RX400 H has the 4 wheel drive system but it probably isn't as good as the Jeep. But the dirty little seceret with all 4 wheel drives is they are useless in traffic. If a few cars ahead of you are stuck you probably will not be able to get around them. I will be driving back north on Tuesday afternoon or very early Wednesday (3 or 4 AM). Is it better to go the usual way through Harrisburg and risk a snow storm or should I take RT 13 or RT 495?

Good Day:
I have travelled the route from I95 North to Emporia then east and head North on 13 but you must use the bypass around Salisbury,MD later I gave this route up and took I95 North to route 50/301 towards Annapolis and then 301 to 13 then NJ Turnpike now your option switch to the Garden State Parkway to I80 east in Saddle Brook. This was faster than going Emporia and East. In snowy weather the Parkway is usually black no snow they are up on plowing.
Have a good trip.

Thanks The route I usually take works well but the weather has me concerned I have found in the past that the areas along the coast usually get less snow. I never drove the 400 before in the snow and I have a lot of faith in the car but I am worried about all the cars in front of me that may get stuck and leave me stranded wit no place to go. I am going to program the route you suggestedn into my GPS andwait till the latest weather reports before I make a final decision.
