How to change oil by self on HS250h
Any one did a self oil change on this baby? I change oil myself on all cars but I never did the same for HS250. Yesterday my car was sent to the dealer for oil change, and it costed me $129 plus tax, a total of over $140!!! So I decided to do some info search and do my own oil change next time.
I don't know if there is any difference between the engines of a hybrid and a regular car. Are there any special requirements for engine oil (synthetic, 5W-20, etc) and filter? Any tools that are Lexus car specfic for filter removal? Any tricks to know for a hybrid car oil change?
Appreciate for any information and suggestions.

while the car is on push the trip reset until it shows "a". Turn the car off. Then while holding the trip reset button, hit the power button twice (make sure your foot is not on the breaks) You'll see 5 dashes in the trip display area. Keep holding the trip reset button for about 15 seconds.

How often should the oil really be changed in this car? The manual says nothing - and when the idiot light came on the dealer said it really did not yet need to be changed. I am not yet sure that I trust this dealer. What are the facts? I drive the car a lot - I mean a lot - but mostly highway miles. I put about 10,000 miles on my car in the 1st six months and have not done an oil change, based on what the dealer said. I traditionally had changed oil every 3,000 - 4,000 miles on other cars.

Thanks for confirming that. I found it in the manual after I made this post. Odd that the electronics flash that you need an oil change at 5,000 miles or so, but the dealer said that was normal for the car. Apparently they programmed the warning light for 5000 or 6000 miles, then the engineers advised them that it should have been 10,000 miles and they never changed the warning light program. I was pleasantly surprised that the dealer changed the oil for free - especially since I had purchased the 2 HS250H cars elsewhere.

HS25h oli filter location
Hi,
Where is oil filter location on HS250h, I try to find no luck, is that under the car? Also all stores selling regular filter type, when you put car information no canister filter information, did anybody knows part number?
Thanks

According to Amazon, this fits the HS.
Purolator PL14477 PureONE Oil Filter
Mobil/Oil Filter M1-103
K&N/Oil Filter PS-1003
Fram Tough Guard/Oil Filter TG4967
And from this URL it looks to be under the engine.

(I'm not suggesting you buy any specific filter brand, don't want to start a war, just 4 random filter models)

I just changed the oil on this car and it is super easy comparing to my old 2006 GS300 that uses cartrige filter. This one uses canister type as skywise mentioned. I went with Mobil 1 M1-103 oil filter and Mobil1 0w20 synthetic.
Jack up the car on passenger side, you will see the oil plug right the way. Most of Toyota and Lexus use 14mm plug and M12 washer. Oil filter is hidden above the engine splash guard. Just remove the oil plug and let the oil out for 10 minutes. Remove one plastic plug near the oil filter, bend the splash guard a little bit and you will have access to it. I use a 3/8 ratchet with a 3 inch extension to remove the filter within couple minutes.
Reverse everything and fill in the new oil. Lower the car to normal level. Let the engine run for a few minutes to check for leaks, check oil level and add more if needed.
