Default 2010 GX - Door actuator dead after 4 years!!

My passenger rear door won't lock automatically, so I brought my car to the stealer to have them diagnose the problem. The technician said the door actuator had failed, and that I have to replace it for - gasp - close to $700CAD!! My 1990 Volvo's locks still work perfectly!! What's wrong with Lexus these days? Looks like the quality of their cars has gone down, plus overpriced parts to match ($525 for just the actuator, when I believe Sewell Lexus is selling it for around $200). I'm thinking about complaining to Lexus corporate; how do I do that?

Have you had other problems with your GX?
Even the best will occasionally fail.

Yes. The brake pads were replaced at 50,000km (31,000miles), and people here are stating a lot better longevity than mine; rattling front passenger seats; and squeaky door panels (they're OK now though). Not many, but pretty rare for a four-year-old car!

The acutuator motor can be replaced for about $5.00US, and a couple of hours of labor on your part.

Up to you. I replaced my Driver's door actuator motor on my 2006 LS430, and it wasn't bad. I went slow and it took me two hours form start to finish. If you are not handy though, don't bother.

Wow, 31k miles is a little low unless you are hard on the brakes. I had mine checked at 35k miles and they had almost half left. I see mine lasting about 50-60k miles.

AKFD,
What was the cost of a brake job. Did Lexus dealer do it. My wife has 27,500 miles on our 2011 GX and the rear pads are almost shot. Fronts are in fair shape.
