Wheel locks
so i had to buy my wheels locks as my gx didnt have accessory package for petes sake...
the wheel lock (on right) seems shorter than the standard lug (on left) thread where washer is.
Doesnt seem like lock will quite touch the hub
is this really how it is, or did sewell send me wrong part? waiting on their email.

The nice thing with using the Toyota/Lexus wheel locks is that when you take it in for service they already have the tool to remove the locks so it is one less thing you have to remember.

Already have the tool? The wheel locks have a number of different keys for the locks, every time I take mine in they go to the back and use the key that came with the truck. If it were a generic key that Lexus had it wouldn't be too secure of a wheel lock.

thats interesting. I thought these wheel locks were all the same with toyota. I am sure most car thieves would have have the toyota locks, but if every lockset is different that would be ideal.

I'm pretty sure toyota/lexus wheel locks are "generic" in a sense. There are probably only so many combinations that are manufactured and the dealer probably has a master set on hand in case they are needed. Of course its probably easiest to just reach in the trunk and use the customers key set.

Agreed, I have had friends strip the lock or lost a key and we always managed to get it off. Also, not sure our wheels are that sought after that they would be stolen.

While I agree with your post, why make it easy for thieves....

Wheel locks, alarms, steering club, etc are things to slow down thieves. If they want it bad enough, they'll get it. Wheel locks may take them another 15 seconds to remove, but that 15 seconds may buy me enough time to find my baseball bat. (Joking aside, I do not condone confronting them).
