Some follow up preliminary thoughts since I am still breaking in the car and travelling anywhere still takes a long long time.

The system has to be turned on at the steering wheel which at first I thought was a good idea….but I think this is a bit of an inconvenience to the driver. (I prefer wife to keep both eyes on the road) I think it would be better if the passenger could turn the system on/off without troubling the driver. …Perhaps a similar activation concept except utilizing another button somewhere on the nav system????

I saw the 2013 RX Youtube demo and wished they were able to keep the video bypass on constantly…because there were times when it would have been really nice/helpful to be able to flip back and forth between the Audio and Nav function. When the system is activated, the Nav just stops working at your last location. You have to turn off the bypass unit and wait several seconds (watching turn intersection pass) for the nav to come back to life. Granted I knew this before purchasing this unit…just did not have the practical experience with the unit. …or maybe I have not configured something correctly.

Would I buy this unit again? Yes, but I would wait till more improvements are made….I think PS has something good starting here… I’m just glad I have a way to bypass the lockout, but it’s a bit clunky at the moment.
I agree with you on the new unit which is no buttons, it kinda inconvenience for that and also it is slow for the gps to reactivate like I went to Chicago over the holiday weekend, it took almost a mins to get to where we at, not instant like the old unit with the buttons like the older version I had on my 13" LX, I mean instantly pick up the GPS where we at.

I don't think this is an after market device problem, it is the GX, GPS calibrating where you are. My Beat Sonic device takes a few minutes to find my current location also.

When you turn the device off, it is up to the GX to find your current location.

Maybe other car models are faster to respond with GPS? Pinging more often?

So does the BeatSonic device allow for external rear monitors to be connected? The PS device that we need doesn't work with the GX head unit, and they're unaware of any other company that has the appropriate device. Any thoughts? We would need RCA out to connect to monitors in the back seat. Thanks in advance.

So this is just a momentary bypass of the lockout?
Is the PS an all-the-time functionality enabled device?

NEVER MIND... I just did some reading and both are temporary interceptors of the GPS signal which tells the NAV and DVD system that you are moving.
If I were pulling the console apart to do this, I'd replace the CC switch at the same time! I'd also install an actuator or toggle on the console.
