Road Trip
I had the pleasure of making a long ( 850 miles) road trip to pick up college kid stuff this weekend. Drove both ways in one day pulling a 6X12 UHaul trailer. Boy am I glad we had this truck. I'll admit I was tired of driving when we got home, but I could not imagine doing this with another truck. We cruised most of the time at 75 mph. The gas mileage showed as it was around 12.5 by the computer. Power was never a issue, I left it on cruise most of the time. It downshifted to 3rd a couple time on bigger hills, but mostly just purred at 2200 rpm. I'm cruis'n with the big rigs and college boy and his pal are in the back playing the playstation. I guess it could have been worse if they would have had control of the music.

To get good gas mileage on long trips, maintain a speed of around 60-65 mph. It gives you around 17-18 mpg. A 400 mile trip we took only used up about 3/4 of a tank or 1 tank of gas.

Kbach,
we pulled the same setup as you at the weekend, not quite as far as you (750miles). We averaged 15.9mpg pulling the trailer (with ~1000lbs on board) and 18.8mpg on the return trip with no trailer. This was all done in the 65mph to 70mph range.
Some of the roads we were on were very rural and I have to say that I am not very impressed with the high/main beams headlights. They do not have much depth to them. It is definelty scarey driving at 70mph on twisty roads with these lights. I am gonig to get the alignment checked just to make sure that they are not pointing up into the sky or something, but these cars really ought to have HID's on them. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?
Does anyone know if there are any auxilary driving lights available for the vehicles yet?
