I cancelled my order ~ 3 weeks ago b/c of the recall. I was telling the salesperson that Lexus will lose a lot of $$ b/c of people going to other SUVs>6000 lbs. He didn't think many people were affected by the change b/c only business owners, etc. are entitled to the depreciation.

I'm guessing between 5-10% of potential GX470 owners would be affected? Any demographics available?

BTW, I know those of you not affected are probably sick of all the posts about the recall.

Approximately 5878 vehicles affected.
Production dates from 10/28/2002 - 01/22/2003.
The recall date with DOT/NHTSA was 02/04/2003 and notices were approved to go out to owners during 04/2003.

In case you were wondering about the middle row seat recall (only with Lexus Link System) -
Approximately 3637 vehicles affected.
Production dates from 11/07/2002 - 01/28/2003.
The recall date with DOT/NHTSA was 03/05/2003 and notices were approved to go out to owners during 04/2003.

In both cases, Lexus has until 07/30/2003 to report progress of retro-fix.

I read about how many units were affected, but this doesn't hurt the purchaser unless he/she was going to use a section 179 deduction. I was guesstimating that b/t 5-10% of people purchasing the gx470 were doing that.
