Hello all.. I just wanted to get your guys experience with using different types of bulbs... and one thing i have seen is that some people talk about how some of them may "run too hot" (like 100 watt headlight bulbs, which is understandable, considering its twice the power of stock)

I recently picked up a 2002 LS430, and i have to say the HIDs are freaking awesome... in the meantime, I just did a cheap upgrade to the phillips blue tinted halogen bulbs on the GX just for the look of them, and will eventually go with the HIDs later in the future...

I guess my two questions are:

1: if these are 55 watt bulbs as well, shouldn't have to worry about extra heat, correct?

2:Those with the HID light changeouts, how do the stock projectors handle the light output? in other words, do they blind the hell out of people like HID lights in Honda Civics do?

1. Replacing with 55w halogens shouldn't be an issue.

2. Eventhough the stock projectors weren't designed specifically for HIDs, they do a decent job emitting light. The horizontal cut off minimizes glare and does not blind on coming traffic if adjusted properly. As far as light output is concerned, they are better than stock halogens but no where as bright as factory HIDs. I believe this is mainly due to the fact that they are halogen projectors. This is just my experience with 35W Kit. Maybe those with the 55W kits have better results.
