Hey all,
I am coming from the JK world, and have never owned a Toyo/Lexus. I have been reading across all forums, on various suspension set ups, but for some reason, these Toyo suspensions seem confusing to me. Never really dealt with struts before, or elex shocks, bags, etc...
I am fairly handy with a wrench, but am getting lost on the options.
I am basically looking to bring the front end up to eliminate the rake, but I also need to replace the struts as they are original from 2005. When I am searching sites, I am getting lost when trying to choose what gen of 4runner, or FJ parts, fit my 2005 GX. Also, to what extent, mainly suspension, or engine too, where does the cross functionality diminish between the different models.
I guess I want 1 to 1.25" lift on front and replace struts, as it is shot.
1. Should I buy a spacer and OEM struts? Which ones and from where?
2. Should I buy new OEM coils (OEM still good at 100K?) and new OEM struts?
3. Should I buy FJ, or 4 Runner coils which may give me 1" in front? with aftermarket struts?
4. Should I buy Aftermarket coils, and OEM shocks/or Aftermarket shocks?
I'd like to keep the selection open in cab, that is why I keep bringing up OEM, but am okay moving away from if it makes more sense. I really do need to replace all 4 shocks, as the GX is bouncing all over the road, pitching and yawing through turns.
Sorry for the questions, I have just read so much this past week, and this is not really sinking in.
Any help is much appreciated.
