Don't know who to believe? GX470 windshield
GX 470 2003 first windshield broke about a year in- replaced with Lexus all OK
second windshield cracked 2nd year -again replaced with Lexus all OK
3rd one cracked 2.5 years in decide to go with cheaper glass company it never cracked again
But, wipers never worked right- Lexus claims width in glass effects sensor, is this true?
I sort of find that hard to believe, what about dirt, dark, etc.
as of late wipers only work properly in fast setting? they stop in up position on lower settings
Maybe Lexus should make a windshield that doesn't crack so easily?
any help?

Well, my body shop insisted on OEM glass vs safelite made in China glass. Even safelite installers will privately admit that OEM glass is always the better and more expensive choice. But maybe on the last install they did not replace the sensor pad for wiper function. If it was never replaced and it has been scraped off old windshield 3 times I can imagine there being much left to it. You can disconnect rain sensor and see if basic intermittent system works and then you will know where the problem is.

Seriously, Lexus doesn't make windshields? Do they make windshield wipers, or light bulbs? Tires? What do they make? but their OEM windshields are a better quality and fit than safelight.

i have had windshieds replaced by safelight in an audi, infiniti, mazda and lexus, had problems with fit in the audi and the mazda, moldings did not fit over glass evenly, went back to my insurance company and demanded OEM glass and with a bit of a fight, they complied. According to the installers that came to my house to do two of them, he admitted, he sees virtually no do overs on OEM glass and many more on the safelite ones, which are made in china. I dont know where audi, mazda and lexus makes their, but they do put their name on the glass. My last windshiled on the truck was done at a body shop becasue of other damage to the hood (brick flew up) and they insisted on lexus glass. Lexus glass comes with a coating on it similar to aquapel which repels and beads the water. i am not a glass expert, just sharing what safelite installers admit and past experiences.

Just tell your insurance that you want an OEM windshield. I got my truck windshield replaced by Safelite with OEM ones. No issues for 2 years. The new OEM windshield is made in Malaysia not in China.
